The InfoVisual is a very good academic resource to learn by way of image with thematic, clear and precise pages, with concise and rigorous texts. This dictionary allows you to search for terms defined by pictures rather than words. The subject areas include vegetal biology, animal biology, and transportation. It is different from an encyclopedia or from a traditional online dictionaries, thesauri and glossaries because the images replace the words. The InfoVisual site uses images to explain objects, listing all their component parts. Detailed views show all relevant details. Every image and term is fully defined. Sometimes, animations allow to better understand a phenomenon and also stimulate the interest for consultation. A great teaching website.

Heinle's Newbury Dictionary of American English
This is a nice online dictionary of American English. You can do a simple word search or use the Advanced Search Options to narrow your search or to search parts of the dictionary that the simple search does not use. For both the dictionary displays a list of results and definitions.

Baen Books is now making available for free a number of its titles in electronic format, the Baen Free Library. Anyone who wishes can read these titles online no conditions, no strings attached. Some of the books in the Library consist of novels which belong to a series. As a rule, they only put up the first one or two books in a series. You can search the books by using the titles or Authors' Index or by series. You can also find the links to download the Reader Software for the Library.
