Wikipedia is a multilingual, Web-based, free-content encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Wikipedia is hosted by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, which operates several other multilingual and free-content sister projects like Wiktionary, Wikibooks, Wikinews, and lots of others. It is written collaboratively by volunteers with wiki software, meaning articles can be added or changed by nearly anyone. You may read and edit articles in many different languages. The English version was started in 2001 and contains hundreds of thousands of articles.
